I said, goddamn! I never thought it would take so long to get the internet up and running at my new place, but it has. 6 weeks! That’s how long it’s been since my last post, and I know that that’s a looooong time in cyberspace. But I’m back at it and this is my hundredth post and I’ve been looking forward to it.
I had the idea a little while back that I’d like to do a retrospective on some of the previous posts that you may have missed out on. This will also serve as a good introduction to any newcomers to Diddy Wah. So feel free to browse through my archives, creatively titled ‘What We’re Gonna Do Right Here Is Go Back. Way Back…Back Into Time’ and if you come across a tune that you’d like to download, leave a comment and I’ll do my best to make it available asap. Simply said, I’m taking requests.
To start off, here’s a request left in the previous post’s comments by a clairvoyant known as ‘avgo’.
J.J. Barnes – Chains Of Love
Also posted way back in February, this psychedelic Howlin’ Wolf tune, yet to be released on CD, is a certified mind blower.
Howlin’ Wolf – Smokestack Lightning
Diddy Wah’s debut post from right back at the start of this year was this insane psych rollercoaster of a track from Maestro Morricone.
Ennio Morricone – Svolta Definitiva
As requested by György in Hungary, David Axelrod as The Electric Prunes.
The Electric Prunes – General Confessional
And this from Abner Jay, the best bluesman that even bluesheads don’t know about.
Abner Jay – Vietnam
I did say I was taking requests but when Steven asked for one of my mixtapes I hesitated. But what the hell, let’s have a party.
if it’s good to’ya it’s good fo’ya
Another Maestro, Mancini, with a horny Hawaiian cop show theme.
Henry Mancini – Hawaii Five-O
In March I posted a series of Rolling Stones cover versions, this was one of them.
Little Richard – Brown Sugar
Okay I’m loosened up now children…so here’s another one of my mixtapes. It’s the last one I’m going to post so y’all better lace up your dancing shoes and get freaky now.
A late addition as requested by Thomas via e-mail.
Fred Wesley & The JB’s – Blow Your Head
